Entry #2 Technology in School

I found this video on YouTube. I thought that it really touched the technology topic really well. I never really thought that technology was used in school as much as it is. Although we always had computers in class, that was about as far as technology went. When I think of technology moving along I don't think about it reaching schools. School to me was a board where the teacher wrote and if you had a project you get sent to the library to work on it. Today kids have the computers right there in class. That is if they didn't bring one from home. I believe that this makes class easier. In the video I chose they talk about using interactive boards. Where the student gets allowed to be on the board like the teacher. That's pretty impressive. Most children are hands on, and I would think that using a board like that would be easier to understand. Rather than just listening to the teacher talk.

I've only been out of high school for 2 years and already things have changed. I know I had Google when I was in school, I also had the Internet. When I wrote research papers in school Wikipedia was not a credible source. I started college and one of my text books cited Wikipedia. I'm not saying we had it so easy. The generation before us may not have even had calculators. It's just different than what I knew. But I firmly believe that technology in school is a really good thing and will help more kid succeed.

I'm  Sarah Leilani Amanda Ponder. If you can't tell, I'm proud of my name. I just moved to Phoenix, Arizona form Oahu, Hawaii. It's a pretty large change in scenery. But I'm happy with my decision to move and start school after being graduated for almost 3 years. I graduated from Kapolei High School in 2010. Then a year later, I decided to take a stab at doing nails. I saved up my money and and went to nail technician school. I worked at a couple salons and spas before I decided it wasn't for me. I finally took up my friends offer to come move to Arizona. So, I packed up my things and here I am. Within 3 weeks of being here I was enrolled in school and on my own two feet.

My hero and I
I absolutely love doing nails on my free time. In high school I did nails for prom and other school events for my friends. For the most part I taught myself how to apply acrylic and gels right from YouTube. That's why I thought going into nails was a good idea. Oh well. It's a skill I will always have. I also love beading. It's doesn't sound all that fun. But it is. I love being able to make things with my hands. I also picked up crochet, knitting, and cross stitch.

I also love children. I always wanted a job that helped them. I chose ultrasound technician because I get to see their progress from a very young age.I'm starting here at Glendale Community College to get a start on it. I know that I will eventually have to change schools, but this works for now. I've always had a hard time getting myself to focus in school. But college has a different atmosphere to it. I enjoy it.
